Essential Internet

If you're not a heavy data user, the Essential Internet tariffs from Three are for you. With a fixed data allowance, Three guarantee you can’t accidentally spend more than you planned. When you reach your data limit, Three will send you a text alert. If you want more data, you can add 250MB data for £2 or all-you-can-eat data for £5 - both last for 30 days. Or just wait till your allowance refreshes next month – Three will block data usage until then so you can’t accidentally run up any extra data charges.

Our Blackberry Curve 9300 Review

The Blackberry Curve 9300 mobile phone is a bit of a let-down, and is not much of an improvement on its predecessors. While it will function on Android OS6, when it is released, until then there's not a lot to get excited about.

The screen is too small for those used to touchscreens, its QWERTY keyboard is at best adequate and a paltry 2-megapixel camera offers poor results, having neither flash nor auto focus. The optical trackpad was also a let-down, and took a fiddly few minutes to make it respond naturally. However, the addition of 3G connectivity is a welcome feature.

For all of the phone's features to work properly, you must take out a 24-month Blackberry contract, which is a bit of a deterrent for potential buyers already locked into a deal.

The Blackberry Curve 9300 mobile phone is clearly aimed at those who want to use it for email, texting and social networking. It has dedicated Facebook and Twitter apps and its Blackberry Instant Messaging service allows you to chat for free with other Blackberry owners, anywhere in the world. The QWERTY keyboard comes into its own here, much more user-friendly than a mobile keypad.

For those more interested in work than play, the Blackberry Curve 9300 mobile phone runs on the Blackberry OS. For those used to other operating systems, this can take a while to get used to, but it works well, especially if you have nothing better to compare it to. Pressing the menu key once allows plenty of options and it's straightforward from there. Apps are available from the Blackberry World App Store - many are free, but paid for apps tend to seem a little on he expensive side when compared with similar products from Android or iPhone. These apps are useful in the case of, say, the dull default address book, which offers little more than a list of names. You can download apps to make this a bit more user-friendly and creative, and there are others available that will make the factory settings a little less bland.

The handset is comfortable in the hand, heavy enough to know which pocket you left it in, but light enough not to be a burden. Black and chrome set the colour scheme, surrounding the 2-inch screen, which is large enough to be functional on the Blackberry Curve 9300 mobile phone, but is let down by the low resolution which users are not used to these days.

In addition to the keyboard and a number of other buttons on the front, the handset features dedicated playback controls on the top and shortcut keys on both left and right sides. One annoying feature, if that's the right word, was the side-mounted headphone jack socket, which means the jack often gets caught in your pocket.

But a Blackberry is a Blackberry, and for the money the Blackberry Curve 9300 mobile phone offers all the features you would expect from the company, at an affordable price. If you can afford it, get a higher spec model, but this will do just fine if you can't.

What We Liked

This phone is good value for money, and an excellent introduction to Blackberry

What We Disliked

The screen resolution was disappointing

Our Final Verdict

Although this phone has many good features for the price, its build quality, a seen in the keyboard, may begin to annoy users.
