LG KF310

Our LG KF310 Review
Design
The LG KF310’s design is quite attractive with its unusual keypad and sophisticated glossy surface. It comes in glossy black and clean white. The size isn’t as compact as we wished it to be, but at 95 g, it is quite light to carry around. It is made from plastic with polished finishing giving it a high-end look with a budget-price.
Screen
At 2.0in, the TFT screen with 262,000 colours at 176x220 delivers modest quality. Indoors, the colors are clear and alive. Outdoors, we found it difficult to read text, view images, or watch videos. One thing to watch out for is the screen’s performance under neon light where it was almost colour-stripped.
User Interface
The LG KF310’s user interface is simple and direct unlike high-end models. The home screen is friendly with great customization options. The navigational icons are placed in a standard 3x4 grid without any animations – improving the handset’s speed. The LG KF310’s multitasking capabilities is one of our favourite features in the user interface. By activating it, we found ourselves swimming in a sea of menus and applications (more than 20). Here’s the downside, you’ll have to close them one by one when you’re done – which can be quite a hassle.
Keypad
The LG KF310’s keypad is sophisticated and embossed for maximum usability. A clear divide is made in the alphanumeric keypad with a mix of embossed and flat buttons. You can easily discern which key you’re clicking even with your eyes closed. The first row of buttons includes the multitasking, a dedicated camera, and a clear button. The D-pad is response with directions and doesn’t require a lot of effort to operate. On the left side of the handset, you’ll find a volume rocker that’s responds with ease.
Camera & Multimedia
At 2.0 megapixels, the LG KF310’s camera is modest and reliable. Surprisingly, we found that the camera includes many options including burst shots. A supplementary camera is supplied for video-conferencing. Overall, we found the photo quality to be average with the colours pale and the details a bit blurred. The camera has no flash or autofocus features, therefore, it can be a bit slow and rough around the edges.
In the multimedia department, we started with the built-in music player. It sports a decent user interface full with categorized music library by albums, genres, playlists, or artists. You also have a shuffle option for your playlist. The sound quality is admirable with great support for MP3, WMA, AAC and AAC+, MPEG4, and WMV.
The video player’s interface was quite confusing for us as we could not find its icon. We found that we could only activate it through playing a video file. It renders videos at around 20 frames per second – not very impressive but understandable for its price tag.
Connectivity & Battery Life
The LG KF310’s connectivity is one of its most prominent allures. It’s the 3G HSDPA support that pushes the LG KF310’s experience a hundred light years ahead given the handset’s lack of laundry list features. Though the screen is modest in size and quality, we loved browsing the internet with this handset. Not to mention using Google Maps, we were able to pinpoint locations with ease. An average user will find the browsing experience agreeable and pleasant.
Battery life currently estimated at 5 hours talk-time, and 288 hours standby competing with high-end handsets from Nokia and Sony Ericsson. Your handset will last 3-4 days without charging making it great with power saving.
What We Liked
We liked the LG KF310’s affordable price tag, multimedia support, and 3G HSDPA connectivity.
What We Disliked
We disliked the LG KF310’s modest screen performance and lack of features.
Our Final Verdict
Given the LG KF310 is a low-end slider handset; we found it to bring great connectivity. This is definitely not a phone to brag about, but it is reliable and modest with commendable functionality. Frugal users in need of 3G integration can buy this handset and stay on budget.
