Our Samsung S3370 Review

Careful – the Samsung is so small and light you might forget that it’s in your pocket. But don’t be fooled; this little beauty is packed with power. Featuring a 2.7 inch QGVA resistive touchscreen display, the S3370 is ideal for browsing the internet with easy navigation. The browser also features pre-loaded widgets for social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook.

The Samsung S3370 mobile has a slide-out compact keypad, but touchscreen navigation is its strength. The screen offers 256,000 colours, enough for anybody, and a crystal-clear 240x320 pixel resolution. The resistive screen uses the TouchWiz user interface version 2.0., with a Screen Auto Rotate Accelerometer.

First launched as a pay as you go only phone, the handset is now available for a number of contract deals on the 3 network. Deals for the pay as you go handset are around £89.99, which makes it good value for money, certainly considering its many features.

It comes with a 1.3 megapixel fixed focus camera. Obviously, professional photographers would look down their noses at it, but it’s perfect for quick snaps. And there’s smile detection technology built in, which professional photographers don’t have. Plus you get FM radio and a stereo MP3 player. The speaker on this mobile uses advanced digital sound engine technology to ensure clear, natural sounds.

The 3G platform is housed in a handset measuring just 99mm x 53mm x 12mm, weighing in at only 86 grams. Although the phone is light and just 12mm in thickness (or should that be thinness?), it feels comfortable in the hand.

The Samsung S3370 has a built-in memory of 50mb, but with an external memory card this can be upgraded to 16gb, more than enough for all your stuff. And if you do need to free up some memory, there’s a USB port for uploading to your computer, as well as Bluetooth connectivity.

This phone also comes with a phonebook for up to 1,000 contacts, Photo Call, an organizer and calendar, clock and alarm clock, calculator and a useful voice memo.

Also known as the Corby, this little phone has already created a stir in the industry since its launch a couple of months ago. And it’s easy to understand why. It’s not only up-to-date, but prepared for the future as well.

What We Liked

More than anything, the price. All the features mentioned above for less than £90 has got to be a bargain. And it’s modern, stylish design means it won’t look or feel out of date for a long time.

What We Disliked

Two slight things. The pre-installed screen wallpapers weren’t all that exciting and FM radio reception wasn’t too clear in built-up areas.

Our Final Verdict

For a small investment of less than £90, this phone will still be in fashion for a long time. Now that it’s available on both contract and PAYG, the Samsung S3370 would be worth every penny with half of its features. Its ease of use makes this phone well worth looking into.
